With Thanksgiving only a few days away I thought today would be fitting to make a post on thanksgiving. I believe there is no better way to get into the Thanksgiving spirit than dwelling on Bible verses about being thankful.
God’s word is full of verses that tell us to give thanks. And if you are God’s child, you have so much to be thankful for! God sent Jesus Christ to die on the Cross in our place so that we could be with Him. Let that truth soak in for a moment. Jesus did what you could never do and died for your sin on the cross. Because of Him, you have victory over death and sin. This is the most amazing thing and it is something we must be thanking Jesus for every day!
I pray that these verses will help fill your hearts with a spirit of thankfulness to God for all he has done and continues to do for us.
Bible Verses for Thanksgiving
Rejoice always, pray continually, give thanks in all circumstances; for this is God’s will for you in Christ Jesus.” (1 Thessalonians 5:16-18)
“And on that day you will say, “Give thanks to the LORD, call on His name. Make known His deeds among the peoples; make them remember that His name is exalted.” Praise the LORD in song, for He has done glorious things; let this be known throughout the earth.” (Isaiah 12:4-5)
“Every good and perfect gift is from above, coming down from the Father of the heavenly lights, who does not change like shifting shadows.” (James 1:17)
“Oh give thanks to the LORD, for He is good; for His steadfast love endures forever!” (1 Chronicles 16:34)
“Oh come, let us sing to the LORD! Let us shout joyfully to the Rock of our salvation. Let us come before His presence with thanksgiving; let us shout joyfully to Him with psalms. For the LORD is the great God, and the great King above all gods. In His hand are the deep places of the earth’ the heights of the hills are His also. The sea is His, for He made it; and His hands formed the dry land.” (Psalm 95:1-5)
“Rejoice in the Lord always. I will say it again: Rejoice! Let your gentleness be evident to all. The Lord is near. Do not be anxious about anything, but in every situation, by prayer and petition, with thanksgiving, present your requests to God. And the peace of God, which transcends all understanding, will guard your hearts and your minds in Christ Jesus.” (Philippians 4:4-7)
Give thanks to the Lord always!
Whatever your circumstances are, God has called us to give thanks to Him! And there is no better time than right now to start. Thanksgiving is such a sweet holiday because it is a day that reminds us how important it is to count our blessings and be thankful. Thanksgiving is a day where we can look back on our lives and find the good things that we can praise God for. Even if it was a year full of pain and hardships, we have a God who is so good. Let us be thankful for Him and His great love for us this Thanksgiving!
