Bible Verses for Christmas

Can you believe that Christmas is this week!
Where has the time gone?  It feels like just yesterday I was celebrating last Christmas.  It seems that a year goes by so much quicker each year.  I don’t know about you, but sometimes I miss the carefree days of being a child during this time.  Christmas, when you are young, is just the most wonderful time of the year.  As you wait in eager anticipation for the day to come.  and never being able to sleep the night before Christmas because of the excitement.  It’s as if, as you get older, the magic of the season starts to fade.
But the truth is that Christmas is still the same.  Maybe we have changed, but Christmas is still the same wonderful, magical, holiday!  Some years, we may find this season hard and then there will be years when the magic returns.  But today I want to remind you of the one truth of Christmas that will never change -Jesus Christ!
Christmas is the day we get to celebrate God giving us the best gift in this world! God gave us His one and only Son!  Jesus came into our world, on the very first Christmas day.  Jesus came into to world as a baby born to die.  All of Jesus’ life here on earth was leading up to His death on the Cross and resurrection.  Because of Christmas, we have life, and hope, and joy!  This is what Christmas is about!
Below I have some verses to help us remember this truth about Christmas.  Some of these verses are common verses you probably hear each year, and some of them are not as common. But each of these verses below speaks of Christ and the reason He came into this world on Christmas!  May these verses encourage your heart this week and remind of the reason we are celebrating this season.

~ Bible Verse for the Chrismas Season ~

“Here is a trustworthy saying that deserves full acceptance: Christ Jesus came into the world to save sinners—of whom I am the worst. But for that very reason I was shown mercy so that in me, the worst of sinners, Christ Jesus might display his immense patience as an example for those who would believe in him and receive eternal life. Now to the King eternal, immortal, invisible, the only God, be honor and glory forever and ever.” – 1 Timothy 1:15-17
“The true light, which gives light to everyone, was coming into the world. He was in the world, and the world was made through him…” – John 1:9-10
“Do you not know? Have you not heard? The Lord is the everlasting God, the Creator of the ends of the earth. He will not grow tired or weary, and his understanding no one can fathom.” – Isaiah 40:28
“Every good gift and every perfect gift is from above, and cometh down from the Father of lights, with whom is no variableness, neither shadow of turning.” – James 1:17
“Have this mind among yourselves, which is yours in Christ Jesus, who, though he was in the form of God, did not count equality with God a thing to be grasped, but made himself nothing, taking the form of a servant, being born in the likeness of men.” – Philippians 2:5-7
“Behold, a virgin shall be with child, and shall bring forth a son, and they shall call his name Emmanuel, which being interpreted is, God with us.” – Matthew 1:23
“And the angel said unto them, “Fear not: for, behold, I bring you good tidings of great joy, which shall be to all people. For unto you is born this day in the city of David a Savior, which is Christ the Lord. And this will be a sign for you: you will find a baby wrapped in swaddling cloths and lying in a manger.” And suddenly there was with the angel a multitude of the heavenly host praising God. “Glory to God in the highest, and on earth peace, goodwill toward men.” – Luke 2:10-14
“For to us a child is born, to us, a son is given, and the government shall be upon his shoulder, and his name shall be called Wonderful Counselor, Mighty God, Everlasting Father, Prince of Peace. Of the greatness of his government and peace, there will be no end. He will reign on David’s throne and over his kingdom, establishing and upholding it with justice and righteousness from that time on and forever. The zeal of the LordAlmighty will accomplish this.” – Isaiah 9:6
“Rejoice greatly, O daughter of Zion! Shout aloud, O daughter of Jerusalem! Behold, your king is coming to you; righteous and having salvation is he, humble and mounted on a donkey, on a colt, the foal of a donkey.” – Zechariah 9:9
